A clear contract is not always a reality (in my experience it is not). Not impacting the backend is illusory, as you might always start hitting a bad performing endpoint, etc. I'm not saying they're bad reasons,

I find that people will throw 'decoupling' as a goal to achieve without an actual reason to do so (as if decoupling was somehow intrinsically something everyone needs, which is total nonsense to me as far as I'm concerned).
