@ShipLives It's the 3rd thread on that matter I've seen. I don't really get it. I don't see the oped advocating for that at all At most, I see it asking qutions following a poll showing that Americans feel like they are sometimes afraid to speak their mind
-
@ShipLives And it seems to impact very different social groups, incl. women, people of color, conservatives, liberals, etc.
-
@ShipLives Whilst I do 't really agree with this notion of "free speech as a fundamental right", I find this poll puzzling indeed and worthy of discussion in itself ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
@ShipLives What I find lacking, however, is any discussion regarding whether this feeling is justified or not (the same way people feel insecure even when security is objectively improved)
-
@ShipLives But I don't get why everybody gets obsessed with the first amendment (for example) where they clearly state that it's not what they're talking about
-
@ShipLives Am I missing something? Is it something cultural I won't get? I'm mostly following liberal people in the US, and I'm rather surprised here which might mean I'm not understanding the whole picture.
