      1. Hyia there! Like some other people today, I will be leaving Twitter soon (will keep the account open - but locked - to periodically check for people I follow on Bluesky). Although I do not believe this platform should necessarily be closed or silenced - explanations in 🧵

Ever since @elonmusk took over, a lot of waves have rocked this boat. Some good, some bad. I don't believe a truly neutral platform can exist (nor that it should), and certainly I think twitter went too far left regarding some ideologies.

Virtue signaling and mobs are not my thing - be it on the right or on the left. And certainly, when Elon came on board there was a big shift - not entirely a bad one. The EU has a different opinion of free speech than the US, but all in all I was mostly ok with it.

(notably because I curated my feed quite well) However, for the past 4 months, the twitter algorithm has taken a big shift to enshitification. Now my feed is mostly self-promotion from Elon (which I blocked, but it does not matter it seems), countless 'AI revolution' threads...

...and has now started to include quite a few conspiracy accounts and videos. Basically, my feed is now 30% political indoctrination, 30% AI shit, 30% engagement bait and 10% content from people I find interesting. This is not something that interests me anymore.

I do not think Bluesky is currently in the same state as the twitter I loved reading in the past - it's still very to the extreme left, where blocking has become a way to just ignore points of view you don't like (which I don't think is a good solution to political division).

But I see a lot of people from here that I found interesting have moved there, and I enjoy the technical underpinnings of this project. I've never been one to tweet a lot anyway, more of a passive consumer - so all in all I don't think I'm signaling much by moving there.

My main interactions are with the Odoo ecosystem (which is slowly moving towards Bsky as well, it seems) and the occasional retweet/opinion with little consequence. I've never been good at having remote friends! I won't be missed here, I won't be noticed on Bluesky. All is well!
